Step inside Miles’s world

More than 1,000 people have taken part in 15 Minutes of Fame, and the vast majority had no previous modelling experience.

Miles will guide you throughout the shoot, helping with pose, expression, composition and props. The atmosphere is relaxed, spontaneous and fun, while the resulting portraits retain the saturated colour and theatricality for which his work is best known.

This is not a conventional headshot or family photography appointment. It is a brief creative encounter between artist and sitter, resulting in original works that could only have been made in that moment.

  • Step 1: Choose your appointment

Select an available date and time between 20 and 22 October. The €450 price covers the complete session rather than each individual participant.

  • Step 2: Arrive ready to be photographed

Please arrive five minutes before your appointment. Wear whatever feels most like you. A fun colour or pattern always looks brilliant.

  • Step 3: Spend 15 minutes with Miles

Miles will photograph you against his pleated orange curtain using a selection of props. You can be photographed alone, together or in any combination you choose.

  • Step 4: See the Polaroids develop

You will be able to see all the images produced during your session as they develop. Miles then makes his final artistic selection, signing his favourite Polaroids.

  • Step 5: Receive your Polaroids

The originals are retained briefly so the studio can create professional archival scans. Cleaned JPEG scans are shared with you, and the original Polaroids are returned within a few weeks by tracked post or can be collected from the studio.

Polaroid Portrait FAQs

What's included in the €450 price & is the price per person?

Your booking includes a 15-minute portrait shoot personally photographed and directed by Miles Aldridge, usually around ten selected original Polaroids signed by Miles, and cleaned JPEG scans of the selected images for personal digital use.

The original Polaroids are returned after professional scanning. Optional enlarged prints, framing and shipping are purchased separately.

The €450 price covers the complete session rather than each participant.

The session is designed for up to four people, and you can be photographed individually, together or in different combinations within the available shooting time.

For a full 15-minute shoot for each person, please book separate sessions.

How long does the appointment take?

The photography lasts approximately 15 minutes. Please allow approximately 20 minutes for the complete appointment and arrive five minutes before your scheduled time.

How many original Polaroids will I receive?

Most sessions result in around ten signed, original Polaroids.

You will be able to see all the Polaroids created during your appointment. Miles makes the final artistic selection, although he will happily include an image you particularly love.

Every selected image is signed by Miles across the front border.

The unselected photographs remain in the studio archive. Only Miles’s selected, signed images form part of your finished set.

When will I receive the originals and digital scans?

The selected original Polaroids are retained briefly so that they can be professionally scanned for the project archive.

Cleaned JPEG scans are shared with you, and the originals are returned within a few weeks by tracked post or can be collected from the studio. They are supplied in a reinforced protective envelope.

Do I need modelling experience?

No. More than 1,000 people have taken part in the project, and the vast majority were not professional models.

Miles will guide your pose, expression, composition and use of props throughout the session. The experience is relaxed, playful and collaborative.

What should I wear and can I bring a prop?

Wear whatever feels most like you. Colour always photographs particularly well within Miles’s visual world.

Yes, you are very welcome to bring personal objects that you would like to be photographed with.

There will also be a wide range of props including colourful telephones, popcorn, feather boas and oversized glasses.

Can children and pets take part?

Yes. Children of any age and small domestic pets are welcome.

Can I take photographs or video during the experience?

Yes. Behind-the-scenes photographs and videos are encouraged. You are welcome to share them on personal social media and tag @milesaldridge.

The studio can also help create behind-the-scenes content on request.

May I share the finished portraits online?

Yes. The supplied JPEG scans may be shared on your personal social-media accounts. Please credit @milesaldridge.

We recommend sharing the images as supplied, without filters or significant alterations, so that their colour and finish remain faithful to the original work.

For editorial, commercial or other professional use, contact studio@milesaldridge.com.

Copyright remains with Miles Aldridge. Your purchase includes ownership of the selected physical Polaroids and permission to use the supplied JPEG scans for personal digital use.

Commercial or professional use requires separate permission from the studio.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Bookings cancelled at least 24 hours before the appointment are eligible for a full refund.

Appointments may be rescheduled with at least one hour’s notice, subject to availability and the remaining dates in the London programme.

If you arrive late, the team will always try to fit you in, although this may shorten the available photography time.

Can I transfer the booking or give it as a gift?

Yes. The person who purchases the booking does not need to attend, and the session can be transferred to another person.

Where does the session take place?

The Imperial Suite at Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, 5 Rue de la Paix, 75002 Paris, France

Is the venue step-free?

The hotel is wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets.

Please email studio@milesaldridge.com if you would like to discuss access requirements.

Will my portrait be published or exhibited?

The studio may contact you separately after your session to request permission to feature selected portraits on the Miles Aldridge website or social media, in press coverage, or as part of a future exhibition or publication.

You can take part while keeping your portraits private. Any public use will be discussed with you separately, and you can approve the image and whether your name is included.

About 15 Minutes of Fame

"15 Minutes of Fame is my ongoing series of Polaroid portraits, a democratic mix of public figures and ‘complete unknowns’.

Each sitter steps into my studio, where they’re photographed against a pleated orange backdrop, under theatrical lighting, with a curated selection of props from my universe: telephones, popcorn, cocktail glasses...

The idea came after I photographed Elton John for TIME’s Icon of the Year cover. That shoot, staged like a set of photobooth snapshots, got me thinking: what happens when anyone, not just a celebrity, is given their moment in the spotlight? The result is a pop-tinged homage to August Sander and Andy Warhol, filtered through my own hyper-stylised, cinematic lens.

Over the course of fifteen minutes, I work spontaneously with each sitter to create a fictional version of themselves. There’s a wonderful alchemy in that brief performance, where myth and truth blur.

I shoot the portraits on Polaroid because it’s immediate, with just the right amount of irreverence — perfect for capturing flashes of humour, vanity, drama, and surprise.

Each portrait is a unique, unrepeatable record of the sitter’s 15 minutes in front of my camera.

At its core, 15 Minutes of Fame is about how people want to be seen, and who they become when they’re given permission. More often than not, the version they leave with is closer to the truth than the one they arrived with." – Miles Aldridge
